What to check, and what we do.
A few simple checks can bring a boiler back without a visit. If they do not, we find the cause and fix it, the same as all our boiler repairs.
Check the pressure
Most sealed systems want around 1 to 1.5 bar on the gauge when cold. If it has dropped, the boiler may lock out to protect itself. Topping up can get it going, but pressure that keeps falling points to a leak.
Check the controls and power
Make sure the boiler has power, the timer is on and the thermostat is calling for heat. A flat thermostat battery is a common reason the heating will not come on.
Frozen condensate pipe
In a hard frost, the plastic pipe that carries condensate outside from a condensing boiler can freeze and stop the boiler. Warm water, not boiling, poured over the pipe often clears it.
Diagnosis and repair
If the simple checks do not bring it back, we test the boiler to find the cause, whether that is the ignition, fan, pump, diverter valve or a sensor, and replace the part that has actually failed.
Left safe
Every repair ends with the boiler tested and working safely. If something is unsafe, we make it safe and explain what happens next before we leave.
Stopping it happening again
Breakdowns often trace back to sludge, low pressure or a missed service. We tell you what caused it and whether boiler maintenance in Whitchurch would help prevent a repeat.
What happens when you call.
-
Step 1: Tell us what has happened
Request a call, ring us, or send a photo of the boiler and any error code on WhatsApp. We talk you through the simple checks first.
-
Step 2: Diagnosis
If it still will not run, we test the boiler and the heating system to find the actual cause, not just the symptom.
-
Step 3: Your go-ahead
We explain the fault and the fix in plain terms before any work starts. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you so.
-
Step 4: Repair and safety check
The repair is carried out, the boiler is tested, and we check it is working safely before we pack up.
We explain the fault and what the repair involves before starting, so you can decide with the facts in front of you. Quotations are free, with no obligation.
